Expert Tip

Always calculate your "Effective Hourly Rate." If you work 50 hours on a salary based on 40, your true hourly pay is lower than you think. Use the Hours per Week field to see the reality of your pay.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many working days are in a year?

A standard working year has 260 working days (52 weeks × 5 days/week). However, this doesn't account for public holidays or paid time off (PTO). Our calculator uses the standard 52-week year as a baseline for gross income calculations.

Does this calculate my take-home pay (net salary)?

No. This tool calculates your gross pay, meaning the amount before income taxes, social security, health insurance, or retirement contributions are deducted. To find net pay, you must apply your local tax brackets to the gross figures generated here.

Bi-Weekly vs. Semi-Monthly: What's the difference?

Bi-Weekly means you are paid every two weeks, resulting in 26 paychecks per year. Semi-Monthly means you are paid twice a month (e.g., on the 1st and 15th), resulting in exactly 24 paychecks per year. A bi-weekly schedule gives you two months out of the year where you receive three paychecks.
